DEBRA HAY: CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Debra HayDebra Hay is a certified medical assistant employed by Dr. Kevin Sublett.  She graduated from Central Alabama Community College in 1990.  She previously worked at Russell Medical Center in the Intensive Care Unit as a telemetry monitor.  This position caught her interest in cardiac care thru the monitoring of heart rhythms on various patients in the hospital.  She became affiliated with Dr. Sublett through this position and eventually came to work for Dr. Sublett in the outpatient clinic setting where she continues to have that passion for cardiac care.

Her current role allows her to assist Dr. Sublett and the professional medical staff in education, care, and monitoring of cardiac patients.  She is trained in obtaining ekg’s , vital signs, pacemaker monitoring, obtaining ankle-brachial indexes (ABI’s) to screen for peripheral vascular disease, monitors Coumadin clinics, assist with patient education and scheduling of outpatient testing, assist with the tremendous volume of prescription refills, prescription education, and prior authorizations required for some medications.  Debra has excellent venipuncture skills and obtains various blood samples required for laboratory studies.  She works hand in hand as a liason with the physician and the nursing staff to ensure the highest quality of patient care.

Debra resides in the Ray Community with her husband, Johnny.  They have two children; Derek Smith and wife Rebecca of Newsite, and Nikki Milam of the Ray Community.  Debra has three grandchildren; Landon (5), Sawyer (4), and Jaxon (4) who she enjoys spending all her free time with.  Debra is a vital part of the strong interdisciplinary team that is at Cardiology of Central Alabama.
